PCCW Solutions unveils Powerb@se MCX10 Data Center

PCCW (SEHK: 0008) – HONG KONG, October 9, 2014 – PCCW Solutions, the IT services flagship of PCCW Limited, today officially opens its Powerb@se MCX10 Data Center in Kwai Chung, its 10th data center facility in Hong Kong and mainland China, to meet the growing demand for cloud and data center services.

The Powerb@se MCX10 Data Center, as a cloud hub, will support a full spectrum of cloud services – ranging from infrastructure, platform, software, content to process – offered by PCCW Solutions and its technology partners, including BMC, CommVault, NetApp, Oracle, Palo Alto Networks, SAP and VMware, offering flexibility to fulfill the customers' changing business requirements.

The Powerb@se MCX10 Data Center has received the Uptime Institute Tier III Certificate1 and the LEED Platinum Certificate2. Backed by PCCW Solutions' extensive data center network in Hong Kong with full resilient backbone connectivity, customers will find the MCX10 an ideal place to build a disaster recovery site, business resumption center or cloud-based disaster recovery site, in addition to a hosting and co-location facility. The MCX10 is a carrier and cloud neutral data center, covering a total floor space of 202,000 square feet with service level of 99.995% uptime.

In addition, PCCW Solutions officially launches the Enterprise Solutions Superstore Alliance3 (ESSA) Incubation Program to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the social enterprise development. The incubation program aims to facilitate technology start-ups to realize their potential in software development and assist them to grow by offering cloud resources, office space and facilities at MCX10 as well as technical support and business consultation provided by PCCW Solutions' technology experts. This will enable the start-ups to focus their resources on R&D activities at a lower cost. The incubatees may also host their applications on the ESSA platform to reach out to their target customers.

Currently, there are about 10 start-ups under the incubation program. The incubatees have developed wide-ranging innovative applications, such as a cloud-based platform which helps NGOs identify talents and raise fund, a cloud-based solution to improve elderly care in the aspects of diet management and medication, and a cloud-based brand protection and authentication solution for customers to identify genuine products.
